Common questions
Where should I start if I only buy one thing?
Sunscreen, then the serum. Daily protection is what keeps existing marks from deepening; the serum is where the visible work on tone happens. In that order, not the reverse.
Is this range only for deeper skin tones?
It was formulated and tested for melanin-rich skin, which means it is gentler than most and finishes clean without a cast. That suits most people. It is simply designed around a set of concerns that other lines treat as an afterthought.
How long before I see a difference in tone?
Skin turns over on its own schedule and no product changes that. Expect to judge evenness over weeks rather than days, and to see comfort improve well before you see tone.
Does a retinoid help with hyperpigmentation?
Retinoids improve the appearance of uneven tone and texture over time, which is why one sits in this routine. On deeper skin the risk is irritation, so it is buffered and used at night only, two or three times a week to start.
Can I use the serum and the retinoid (HPR) together?
Yes, at different times. The serum morning and night, the retinoid at night in place of your day crème. If your skin is reacting, drop the retinoid back to twice a week before you drop anything else.
Will a vitamin C serum for dark skin do the same job?
Vitamin C is an antioxidant and helps with the look of radiance. It is not the same as a tranexamic acid and alpha arbutin pairing, which is aimed specifically at the look of uneven tone. They are complementary rather than interchangeable.
Will it leave a white cast?
It is formulated specifically not to, and that is the claim the product lives or dies on. The full formula is published on the product page, with the cast test as it is completed, so you can judge it rather than take it.
Is SPF 30 enough?
SPF 30 worn every day and reapplied beats SPF 50 worn occasionally. The number matters far less than the habit, which is why this was priced and textured to be worn daily.
Can I wear it under makeup?
Yes. It is the last skincare step and the first thing your foundation goes over, and the finish was built to layer rather than pill.
Is it heavy enough for very dry skin?
It is built to hydrate without weight, which suits most skin. In genuinely dry conditions, applying it to slightly damp skin gives you noticeably more out of the same amount.
Will it pill under sunscreen?
It was formulated to layer, which is the practical test that matters: a moisturizer that pills under SPF means the SPF does not get worn.
Does it contain fragrance?
No. HydroLipid is fragrance-free. The full ingredient list is published on the product page.
