Accessibility
What this site is built to.
And where it currently falls short, which is the part worth publishing.
The standard
This site is built against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. That is the level most commonly used as a reference point in law and procurement, and the one we hold ourselves to in code review.
Meeting it is not a single event. Every new page is another chance to fall short of it, which is why this page names a contact rather than declaring the matter closed.
What is in place
Pages use real headings in a sensible order, so a screen reader can be used to navigate rather than to read everything from the top. Every image carries alternative text, decorative effects are marked as decorative, and color is never the only thing distinguishing one piece of information from another.
Everything interactive can be reached and operated from a keyboard, and keyboard focus is visible rather than styled away. Text can be resized in the browser without content being cut off, and no page scrolls sideways at any width. That one is checked automatically before anything ships, at three screen sizes, along with a check for console errors.
Color contrast for body text and controls is checked against the measured palette rather than eyeballed. The site does not autoplay media and has no time limits. The one thing that moves on its own, the reviews carousel on the home page, pauses when you hover, focus or press pause, and stays still if your device asks for reduced motion.
Known shortfalls
No independent audit has been done. Nothing here has been checked by anyone outside the team, and no testing has been done with assistive-technology users. Self-assessment finds the obvious problems and misses the ones that matter most.
Some decorative text is set very small. The wide-tracked labels used throughout the design sit at the small end of comfortable. They are supporting labels rather than content, and each one is repeated in a heading nearby, but it is a real shortfall rather than a stylistic choice we would defend.
Tell us when something does not work
If any part of this site is difficult or impossible to use, we want to know specifically: the page, what you were trying to do, and what happened. That is more useful than a general report and it gets fixed faster.
hello@drkitaskin.com. We answer within two working days, and an accessibility problem is treated as a bug rather than as feedback.
If you would rather not email, everything on this site is also reachable through contact.
